These are some of the people I find inspiring, perhaps you will too.
The Ballerinas
Painted by Maurice Franks, my maternal Great Grandfather, these oil paintings are rare portraits in his work of mostly city and landscapes. Maurice worked professional as a textile designer, in our family he is better know for his watercolors. Little is know about these two women, Grandma called them 'The Ballerinas' and greatly appreciated the art created by her father in law.
Ted is a talented ceramicist in the ceramic department at the University of Georgia. His a calm demeanor, sharp wit and masterful ease with clay make him an exceptional artist and teacher.
Ada Ranew
Two years ago a dear friend and I adopted a bouncing hound dog we named Ada after this song by The National. A year later, on a visit to the old graveyard were much many Ranews are buried in Quitman, Georgia, we found this grave. As it turns out, there was another Ada many years ago who lived, perhaps a bit estranged, on a farm on the outskirts of this small town.
